I finished weeding this garden bed for the fourth time this summer, and then wonderful Kevin went out during naptime and put down landscaping fabric and mulch so that hopefully there won’t have to be a fifth.
It looks spectacular – what a difference it makes compared to the bare dirt (let alone rampaging weeds)!

Tomatoes!
The tomato plant actually produced, and some of those green fruits actually ripened!
I was so delighted – our yard isn’t really hot or sunny enough for happy tomatoes. But four from one plant counts as a banner year! These photos were taken right before the harvest, and then we took them inside for a havarti with dill and fresh tomato sandwich feast. It was delicious.
